There was a neat entry in the library news publication Hotsheet a few weeks ago about a search engine for charity. The search engine is http://www.goodsearch.com and they will donate a penny to the organization of your choice for every search you do. The Friends of the New Orleans Public Library has become a member organization. A penny isn’t much, but if 1,000 people do 2 searches a day then the library will receive about $7,300 a year…pretty impressive. The search runs with Yahoo search technology and while I don’t love it more than Google, it’s easy to do a search or four a day using GoodSearch and send pennies south to help with the devestation from Katrina.
